The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) published a new standard, addressing the use of cranes and derricks in construction.

EPA extends RRP certification deadline

An update on the RRP law was released on June 18, 2010 in Washington, D.C. It revealed that the EPA is offering additional time for contractors to get trained and certified. Contractors and firms must be enrolled no later than Oct. 1 and complete the certification course by Dec. 30, 2010.

BWC premium rate changes effective July 1, 2010

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) Board of Directors recently approved premium rate changes for private employers for the policy year beginning July 1, 2010. BWC indicated that this rate change will amount to a 3.9% overall decrease in collectible premium rates. However, actual premium and rate changes will vary from employer to employer. This change will be realized by employers when they pay their semi-annual premiums in January/February 2011, and again in July/August 2011.
